Attack & Swap
Seeing is not just an optical process but also a process in the brain. This installation by Benedikt Gross takes control by guessing shape parameters of human faces and responding to them.
Once the viewer appears in sight of the camera, his or her face is “attacked” by digitally zooming it to fill the screen or swapping it with another one’s face. This installation also playfully refers to the aggressive act of visual data acquisition, as it is already in use for face recognition systems at airports.
